For the last three years Monster Energy and Casey have hosted a CanAm ride from Baker to Las Vegas in route to Monster Cup. The last two years we brought out the Bmx crew to let them see what its like with a motor. This year we decided to invite out the international crew with Rodrigo Ampudia, Short Course/Desert Racer, Steve “Baggsy” Biagioni, Drift Driver, and Blake “Bilko” Williams, Fmx Rider.
To change it up even more we started off at Pirates Cove right outside of Needles, Ca and headed into the Mohave Desert for some four wheel fun.
The weather was perfect in the high 80’s with a slight breeze to keep the dust moving for clean vision.
It didn’t take long for Bilko to put the CanAm to the test sending the Maverick X3. Give a FMX rider two extra wheels and they’ll go twice as big.
We would have a newby to the dirt with Baggsy. Typically sticking to the pavement, Baggsy is a recognized drifter overseas in Europe, recently starring in Battledrift 2. After a little getting used to, he would hold his own, putting his own expertise into sliding the CanAm around the dirt corners.
Half way through the trail we’d stop off at the local honey spot for some fresh honey and jerky. Then it was back on our way.
With his offroad background, Rodrigo would have no issues, feeling right at home in the CanAm.
The sunset and dust would make for some epic photos. But it was time to wrap up this trip and get to Vegas.
Overlooking the Las Vegas skyline at night was a perfect cap to the ride.
The boys were nothing but smiles after the 12 hour dusty ride. Next up is Monster Cup and the new head to head event, Duels.
